Most of us keep old jewelry in a drawer or box wondering what to do with them as they have lost their prime and become out of fashion. As these have high emotional value, old jewelry cannot be thrown. They cannot be given as a charity as they have missing parts or are so broken that they cannot be held together. So, the best option in such circumstances is to reuse these old jewelry. But since they have become out of fashion and are nearly broken, it is essential to reuse them skillfully. Some parts of old jewelry like beads might not be available now and these makes these old jewelry a piece of fashion. Following points will help you in reusing old jewelry skillfully and in a unique way.

1. The easiest way to reuse your old jewelry is to make new jewelry. With the use of some basic tools, old jewelry can be dismantled and with addition of new wire new jewelry can be easily refashioned. You can change the pattern of beads by removing them which gives it a look of new jewelry.
2. Another way of reusing your old jewelry is to use them to enhance your apparel. Beads can be used as buttons and they really sparkle. Diamonds and crystals can be attached to your cloths using fabric glue. This will enhance look of your cloths and make you look more fashionable in those cloths. You can also attach part of jewelry pieces to your hand bags or purses. Different colored beads would look attractive on your purse giving it a fashionable hue.
3. Old brooches can be converted into shoe buckles. These brooches prevent marks and scruffs on your shoes from being visible along with enhancing their look. As brooches cannot be easily taken apart, these can be converted into arm bands.
4. Another way of recycling or reusing your old jewelry is jewelry repair. A ring can be resized, a bracelet which has a loose clasp can be tightened, some might just require a good polish to make them look bright and shine. With the use of some minor tools, you can do these repairs yourself without any expertise thus saving cost and getting new jewelry.
5. If you have old jewelry that has antique value, you can even pledge these jewelry and raise some cash. Some diamond jewelry with precious stones are ethnic and are crafted in traditional way. These are not available today and have high value. Some of these ethnic jewelry can be found at an auction and are auctioned at high rate. If this jewelry is pledged, it can give handsome amount that can be used to buy new jewelry or the amount can be invested in a profitable way.
6. Last but not the least, old jewelry come handy as a decoration piece for your house. Some ancient jewelry are decoration pieces on their own. Others can be used to enhance decorative value of candles, x-mass trees and other pieces of decoration kept in the living room.
